Mission Statement
"The Paint Creek Trailways Commission provides trail users a natural, scenic, and educational recreation experience while preserving the ecological integrity of the Paint Creek Trail for the enjoyment of future generations."
The Paint Creek Trailways Commission is an intergovernmental agency formed under the Urban Cooperation Act of 1967. As part of the intergovernmental agreement, the Paint Creek Trailways Commissioners are appointed by our local City Councils and Board of Trustees, depending on the municipality. Each community is given two Commissioners and two Alternate Commissioners, and they consist of elected officials and citizens. The Commission is responsible for the ownership and maintenance of the Paint Creek Trail.
The Trailways Commission meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. The meetings are held at either the Paint Creek Cider Mill Building, 4480 Orion Road, Oakland Township, 48306 or at the Rochester Municipal Offices, 400 Sixth Street, Rochester, 48306. The Paint Creek Trailways Commission upcoming annual budget is approved by the Commission in June of each year. It is then sent to each voting member municipality for their approval. The budget is divided into Operations and Patrol budgets. Each voting member municipality contributes equal amounts to the Operations budget, regardless of the amount of Trail in their community. The Patrol budget covers the cost of our part-time Bike Patroller, as well as the contracted services of the Oakland County Mounted Patrol. The patrol budget is pro-rated based on the amount of Trail in each community. Our, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Approved Budgets are available for download:
